Cancer Registry data is provided to the Arkansas APCD by the Arkansas Department of Health. The Arkansas Central Cancer Registry (ACCR) is a population-based registry designed to collect timely and complete data on cancer cases diagnosed in the state of Arkansas. Events diagnosed in 2013 and onward are available for selection. NOTE: Data is current through 2017. Cancer Registry data is provided as a full file replace each year and contains the most updated version of cancer registry records. The Cancer Registry never closes out a year for processing. Older cases received from reporting facilities are processed as soon as they are received (This is why central Cancer Registries submit all diagnosis years annually to the CDC and NAACCR for dissemination).
Patient identifiers can change over time as patient and tumor records get consolidated. De-duplication of tumor and patient records is used to ensure each record is a single incidence of cancer. As such, patient identifiers (PatientCaseID) can change. It is recommend to use APCD_Unique_ID and Patient Sex to help consolidate records.
The Arkansas Cancer Registry data definitions can be found in the supporting tool, the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR). The NAACCR data dictionary is located here: http://datadictionary.naaccr.org/ .
Cancer registries use a specialized set of ICD codes called ICD-O: https://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/handle/10665/96612/9789241548496_eng.pdf. Coding Guidelines: https://seer.cancer.gov/icd-o-3/
